    Jerilyn Tyner, a former English teacher, combines her love of language

and literature and a fascination with American history with a passion for

education. Her writing explores the lives of early pioneers in education

whose contributions made a lasting impact on our country.

    Her second novel, On Lavendar Mountain, takes her readers to rural

Georgia at the turn of the century where a southern belle opens the gate

of opportunity for disadvantaged mountain children to receive an


    Jerilyn lives in beautiful Washington state. She is married to her college

sweetheart, and they have four sons, four daughter-in- laws, and seven

grandchildren. They also have a precocious papillon named Anouk.

    Ms. Tyner is currently doing research for her third novel and planning a

trip to Alaska.
